Reconnecting

It's been too long. Heading out the door each morning for work, I walk past that awesome lightweight bike that just hangs there against the garage wall. I can't remember the last time I've taken it out for a good hard ride. Long days and nights at work have needed to take precedent over everything else lately. Other responsibilities have pressed in, too, and time on the bike has hardly been an option. Add in the unseasonably cold and wet La NiƱa weather...yeesh. I was riding more in February than I am now. Yep, I'm enjoying a full fledged personal pity party.
Saturday changed all that. A chance to ride a little bit again, together with Mrs. C who has bonded with her new bike, and Nat--knock on wood--who loves to ride all of a sudden. Go ahead, knock me over with a feather.
We got to share our ride time with really good friends. Nat’s friend Annabanana, along with Pablo and Mrs. Pablo, made the time especially groovy. We caught up on what’s happening with our families.  We talked about work and travel and all sorts of stuff. A few of us took on a hill before finishing the ride, just so we could be all impressed with ourselves. I was secretly relieved just to stay upright on the climb!  Later that night, I remembered what a gift it is to have something you truly love to do, especially when there are people in your life to share it.

I walked past the bike again this morning on my way to work, remembering and smiling, and looking forward to the next great ride.  Soon.

Here. I'll make it easy. Monday, June 6: bring your bike on the rack behind the car. Come to PIR straight from work (maybe leave a little early).
Watch me race at 6:30pm, then go for a ride along the Columbia Slough. You'll have plenty of daylight left.
If that date doesn't work for you there will be seven more Mondays to ponder through Aug 1.
Just think about it.

I heartily agree that it is a lot of fun to ride with family. And it is a lot of fun to ride with friends. I'll take either option. Went for a ride tonight down the Springwater Corridor to Downtown and it was beautiful! The more I ride my bike, the more I love it. (And don't tell my bike, but I REALLY LOVE my wheelset.)

I wondered where you'd been lately.

Glad you got to get out and ride! It is definately more fun to ride with friends and family. Eric and I thoroughly enjoyed our ride together a couple weeks ago. We hope to do it again soon.

I think my Dad had a "knock me over with a feather" moment too when I asked him to take me out and teach me a few things. My brother is more of a cyclist than I am, but triathlon training requires being able to ride a bike well so here I am!
